What’s going on…

Aight, I think this is going to be my shortest blog to date. I am kind of tired, but felt I wanted to blog before I do some reading and sleep.

So what happened this weekend? For Sunday school, the Roman’s class. I must say the reading ahead of time did help, although I was still lost for some parts. I would say it was an improvement, but there are still iffy places where I do not understand. I will keep on trying to understand more and try to continue reading ahead of time. I actually read two versions (NIV and NLT) several times for Romans 4, and find NLT easier to read. So for those out there in need of a change, NLT (New Living Translation) might be your choice.

Later that day, my team the TCBC Sanctuary played its first softball game of the year. This game was amazing. We were cheering our hearts out. We have a total of 31 players on our team yet only 12 managed to show up, which is amazing. But we had the best time. There were several moments in this game that were so funny, we laughed out heads off. Alas, at the end, we lost in the last inning to the TCMC Samaritans 20-14. But overall, we played some good defence, holding the opposition to several scoreless innings. We continued to cheer every player on no matter what, and tried to keep warm in the chilly weather.

So today, I finally bought a baseball glove. How I managed to play I think 7-8 years of softball without ever owning a glove is beyond me, I actually think it’s quite impressive. So two years ago, I bought the cleats (because I had new running shoes, can’t get those dirty), I bought batting gloves yesterday and the glove today, so I got a full set enough to play.

Last Thursday, when I was at CCF, a sister shared a story with us about this Jewish Geriatic Care Centre. From my impression, I felt that the Jewish customs that they follow are so strict. At each door is placed a jar with some scroll in it with some Ancient Greek writing (I think it’s Greek). This from what she was describing the events in the bible where the blood on the doors of all the Jews to symbolize they circumcised child in their homes. So the center actually hires a guy full time to go around to each door and clean this jar and scroll. However, when asked what it says, nobody knows. Because it is ancient, there is no translator for it and nobody knows. They make sure everything they use is sanitary including utensils and food, which is why they eat Kosher foods. So she told us that she once tried to eat a home-brought bagel at their café and she was told to put it away. Their customs seem so strict I almost feel sorry for them. The most interesting thing she shared with us is the mark on foods to indicate it is kosher. The symbol is a circle with the letters “COR” inside the circle with a number. This is to indicate that the food is Kosher. For all those that drink Aberfoyle Springs Water, if you look on the label, you see this symbol meaning the water is kosher. Interesting isn’t it? The number is just an identification number for each product. So hope you learned something today.
