So it's been too long since I've been able to blog. Was so busy at work last few weeks that I have been lacking in it. But I think it's better that way, so focus on my work. I had so much to do in my last few weeks, and I didn't mind really. It's better to be busy than to be bored out of my mind sitting there reading or something. I think I started enjoying my work more when I have more work. I know I've had two major projects, maybe three. And I enjoyed it when I really had to get it done.
Although I never really got my program working in the end. I mean I feel bad that I did not see it working at the end. I really wanted to see it work, but oh well. I really could not help it because it depended on so many things. But interesting thing, the R&D Vice President asked me to come to his office at the end of the day, after I sent him a thank-you. He asked me a very good question, what have I learned while I've been there.
This is a hard question because I've never really thought about it. I mean I can say I learned about QoS and MLPPP, but those are obvious. But I also learned more about C coding, and TCL-TK coding. However, the biggest thing that I learned was not something technical, but more just the way a computer based company works. How different it is from the bank. And also, it was hard going through the rough times while seeing people I work with get laid off. Those are the things I will take from working there. Dealing with rough situations in companies and going forward.
But above all, my skills in ping pong and snooker have by far improved the most! hahaha
And right after work, I drove to Finch station and I was off to TCBC English Congregation retreat. Here is the most interesting thing about this retreat, out of like 45 people, 6 of us were in school. 3 in High school, 3 in University, and that was it. I find it odd, yet I don't think it's so bad. Because it creates a more serious environment all around. People who really do care about the movement of the English congregation.
I was challenged earlier this year about getting involved in TCBC. So I decided this retreat was the best place for me to start. So I volunteered to do something, and then a brother said I should do Bible study. Actually I didn't really want to. But looking at the schedule, there really wasn't anything to do that interested me. So I said, ok, I'll lead bible study. But then I thought I'd be able to help build the bible study, but then I was told I was wrong. In fact I was just a bible study leader and that's it.
So anyways, went to all the prestudies with our speaker Gavin McCombie. He was a great speaker, I liked him even moreso than when he spoke at TCBC. And his messages made even more sense knowing the bible studies. The way we did it, we had bible studies after the sermon. But now I think knowing the bible studies help a lot. So maybe next year they should do it before?
Well, this brother who told me to lead bible study was right. I was challenged to great lengths, and I learned a lot. The bible studies actually meant something to me, and I actually understood it for once. Usually I am not a big fan of bible studies, because I don't understand fast enough. But I continue going because I want to know more.
So the whole point of the retreat was Unity. And to build a united church and congregation. So today I was talking about it and another brother, who have said so many things to me that have stuck with me. And this time he told me the one time God did not answer Jesus' prayer in the bible is the one time he asked for united believers. And then I thought to myself, that makes total sense. Because of God answered it and gave it, all believers would be united right now as I write. But the fact is we are not. So then it makes sense that God did not answer.
And as I came back, I had two days to pack all my things and move out. I am now moved downtown. I pretty much packed all my stuff this morning. I had so much more things than I thought. I had a van full of things. So I came down, brought my computers upstairs, and then went to do my things at school. Got all that done and come home (downtown home). Ended up helping one of my new roommates move in. I knew she was moving in, and since I saw the truck, I knew she was. Then she had extra elevator time, so instead of moving at 7PM which was my elevator time, I moved in by myself at 4PM. Took me quite a few trips just to fill up the elevator, made two trips with the elevator, but many times back and forth from the car to the elevator. But in any case, I moved in within an hour.
My new room is set up very awkwardly, but it's strategic planning. It's not the most logical arrangment, but it's something that'll work best for me. I have my desk in the middle of my room facing outside into the living room. It's because I don't want to face any of the walls. So my bed is behind my desk. Maybe if you wanna come see, you'll understand why it's odd.
And so tomorrow I start school. Back to the old stomping grounds. I am feeling a bit afraid, because I don't know how it'll be. Please pray for me, that I will be able to adjust back to school. I have class tomorrow at 10AM, so not too bad. Have more night classes than morning classes. Not exactly how I like it, but can't do much given what I have.
So have a good night, and I'll be blogging more from now on.
