Wow, two blogs within a week, this must be a record for me for the past half-year. So let's get to some personal notes, and then maybe some questions later, to fire things up a bit.
First, I said in the "comments" section last blog that I got a surprise this week, namely Wednesday. So I check my email and I see this email from my former boss at my internship. I open it, he asks how are things, says I'm probably finishing up now and that I'm probably looking for a job. And he asks me to give him a call. Pretty nice eh? I guess so. I mean it's great, and if there is a job, it'll be pretty hard for me to turn it down given right now I have nothing. But I actually did not want to go back because I wanted to do something different, get some experience elsewhere. But as luck would have it, I got nothing. Does not help I am not actually applying, but still. Anyways, we'll see next week.
So I finished my first exam today. Last night, started studying at 11 after a meeting in the morning. Studied til about 4 when I went to an extra tutorial session for the exam. Then went back to study starting 7 until 11:45, then to another library (cause that one closed) and did that until 1:30. Yup, and how did I do you ask? Horrible as usual. It's a weird thing, I generally do pretty bad on midterms/exams, if only I did slightly better, my marks would have been so much better. Anyways, the thing is, I have trained myself to be oblivious to anything bad. I did not feel anything at all after the exam. I just went home, ate lunch, went right back to the library to study again. I've trained myself to not even feel any emotion about the exams, and just keep on going. I feel like a robot or something.
So someone sent me this URL, quite intesting, Christian dancing: Get Your Praise On.
So what is interesting about this article is how they talk about dance clubs for Christians. "At these new booze-free nightclubs, DJs spin and patrons shake in the name of Jesus Christ. No dirty dancing allowed"
So this sounds interesting, and then they mention some other ones that havee a mix of secular and Christian music. But how exactly do they stop "dirty dancing" or even classify it. Surely if some girl is grinding against some guy, I guess you can classify it "dirty", but then what "Excuse me, but can you NOT dance like that." I'd really like to see how they enforce something like that.
But I guess this is an interesting concept, but has a limited age group. So from a business perspective, it's kind of limiting. But I guess if it's not for profit, then it could work. I mean they won't make a lot of money, or it'll be hard to cover costs, what with probably no alcohol either, but I guess they could do an "offering bag" =)
Furthermore to that, let's face it, if there is no "sexual indecency", and no alcohol, then does that mean it's all ages? Then it falls into another problem. Let's face it, there will still be "picking up". Christian men/women still get married, and so it still happens. But if it's all ages, then it falls into the problems of "children". And even what's worse is, girls these day do not look their age. Fourteen year old girls do not look fourteen. And makeup, let's not even talk about that, with the makeup they could literally look double their age (or half their age for a certain age group).
But it still is a good idea though, won't make much money without liquor though. But if they break-even, then it's all good. Would I go, I think I would if with a crowd.
You know what I've been thinking as I am winding down my last week's of school? I've been thinking of how it's kind of regretful that I still meet people now and I have no time to really get to know them, or make friends with them.
Funny story, last day of school, I walk into the main CS/CE building. I see my friend from high school so I stop and chat a little. On walks this girl. This girl is in some of my classes, we've had quite a few classes with each other this year. Chinese girl, relatively tall in comparison to others. I think she's pretty, didn't talk to her cause frankly, she looks a little unapproachable, but that's my opinion. So anyways, she walks up to us, and apparently knows my friend. He introduces us, but I already know her name. I go to him, "yeah, we have classes together, but we've never actually met.". Then we're both saying "Last day of school and here we are meeting people for the first time." hahaha. too bad though.
Anyways, in the last month I met quite a few new people. It's a shame I only met them once because I would of really liked to know them better. And it's a shame I don't have more time to know them because they would've been good people to be friends with. I see some of them at the library, and I say hi but I can tell that there is something missing, like a connection. Why do I say this? Because a little later in the day someone else this person knows walks by, and they get up and approach them. But I can't really compare, because I don't know their relationship. So I can't really compare right?
But anyways, I was reflecting how many friendships I have not taken advantage of or even had the time to develop. Like these ones, unfortunately for me, I have run out of time. Because our relationship is primarily based on the connection of school, when school is not there then maybe the friendship will be gone as well.
And then what about those friendships that I have made before. I would say I met a good group of people in first year. But since then our relationship has grown apart primarily because I do not have classes with them at all, because of being ina different disciplne. But what's funny is everytime I see them and then leave, I'm like "yeah, so I'll see you at Christmas" or "I'll see you end of year" because we usually all meet two times a year, Christmas and end of the year. It's a shame. Now I hate to say it but they are not the people who I regret not knowing the most, but still, it's a little sad.
