Been a little while since I have posted. Still been going to NYC and I think the city is growing on me. Everyone though keeps on asking me, what have you done there. I think, do I really have to do something all the time. I get tired. Sometimes I just want to sit in my room, watching television, maybe a nice dinner to go with it. I ventured out to eat in a restaurant alone this week cause I was pretty much alone this week. Tried this Korean restaurant not too far from my hotel, it was famous for it's tofu soups, which were good, but I've had better here in Toronto.
An interesting thing happened this past week though. So I went with my cousin and her friends to a Thai restaurant. We paid the bill, leaving what I feel was a fair tip. So what happens, the lady comes back and says to me, "Was there something wrong with the service?", I was thinking, what is she talking about. She was complaining about our tip. Granted I mean it was fair, but it wasn't astounding, but it's a tip, you take what you get. Who in the WORLD comes back and asks for more. However, I was in a good mood and we did enjoy the place up to that minute, so we gave a bit more. Thinking back I should of just walked out of there furious.
One of the things i was looking forward to this weekend was to go to church. After being away the whole week I want to meet God. I decided to go back to the church I went to last time, and this time not be so anti-social as well. I walked in on time, found it strange cause on my way there I saw some people of the congregation walking away, didn't think anything of it. Then when I walked in, I saw people inside, but some others who I expected to be inside were not. So I asked, "Doesn't service start at 12:15?" And what did I find out, they had joint service this week, of all weeks. So I missed the whole service.
But the guy was nice enough to ask if I wanted to join them for lunch. I happily accepted, I'd like to meet some more local people. However, once in a while I dropped the hint that I wanted service, and was a bit off because it was not on their website. One of the people I met was tellnig me she finds a lot of people find their church via google, it comes up atop very often. That is further incentive to make it up to date. But it's interesting to know people do go to the internet to find churches, like I did. However it does not help when they are not up to date. I suggested they update it becuase people like me are looking for churches. I even went so far as to tell the guy to go to his church meeting and tell them about my incident, and how important the website is. Maybe I took it too far, but I still think it's true. Next time I'll know to put it down one notch.
There is a huge country theme going on last few weeks in New York City. I walk past the Good Morning America set every morning and see several people play. First one was Bonnie Raitt, then Wynonna, Clint Black, and finally Faith Hill. Faith Hill was stunning, but she dyed her hair brown and it just did not look at nice as the blond. But i do think it accentuated her eyes more. Oh, I hear Reba was there same day as Clint Black.
Oh, interesting conversation topic I had with my cousin and her friends. They made the comment how they found people ni New York City friendly. I was like, really? I don't see it. But then I described to her how there are many different cultures in new York city, and at the most basic there is "East Side" and "West Side". East side is primarily more family oriented, might not be as well off in some parts. Whereas the West side if young, rich/money driven, and generally not as friendly. They were saying how compared to people in London, they were nice. And for some reason, I think the opposite. But the best example was when I brought them to this bar called "The Living Room" located on the main floor of the W Hotel near Time Square. This place is like all white, people dressed up all nice, looking rich. I think I saw Xzibit there, but not sure. AnywaYS, the people there were mostly rude. This old man had his back to the bar taking up all the space. I was like, excuse me, he points at this slither of space, what a jerk. We went to the other side of the bar instead, caue I dont have patience to deal with people like him. And then later on in the night, we had ordered drinks from the waitress, half hour later she had not come with them, so we left. I would not suggest poeple to go there, looks nice, but people are just not friendly at all. I still do not agree with their notion that NYC is friendlier than London.
