Children of Cambodia

I had some good stuff to talk about, but over the course of time, I have forgotten everything.

So today I was with my parents most of the day. I went to Toronto Chinese Community Church tonight, to their World Relief Fund for Children in Cambodia event. The event was actually very good. A lot of music, the kids did a huge number. It was so cute to see them. There was a long skit, three acts, with singing. So I had a good time there, was quite funny.

They raised $7, 325 on tonight alone. So it’s actually quite good intake.

Oh, I remember the good thing (I find it funny) that I was going to talk about.

So yesterday, I went to Hosanna Evangelical Free Church for fellowship. After the fellowship time, I went outside of the room, into the main foyer. The adult choir had just finished practicing, and they were enjoying the dessert (Almond Paste) that Pastor Chan made. So then a lady started speaking to this other man in Cantonese, “I don’t know this one (pointing at me).” So of course I heard her, saw her, and I decided I’d introduce myself. So then Aunti Katie introduced me further to the auntie, and two other uncles. So I started talking to the two uncles about what I was in, my future goals, stuff like that.

Then I started talking to one of them about how long I’ve been going to church. Then he started talking a lot of pro-Christian stuff. It’s good to come to fellowship while your young, he said. When I was around your age, going to church and fellowship is great. You meet a lot of people and good friends. I mean you can spend your nights going out and meeting friends outside of church, but they may lead you astray. Then he started talking about how good the religion is. At this point, is when I started realizing he thought I was a non-believer.

So at that point, I had to set it straight right there before I hear is sales pitch. So I told him, I do go to church, just not yours. I go to TCBC downtown, been going there since grade 2. I just come to yours for the fellowship and not the service, not because I am a non-believer.

But even though he thought I was a non-believer, I think it’s quite good that he was trying to make the “new-comer”, or “non-believer” welcome. I am glad to see parents and such not afraid to talk to youths (I am still young). And a very good thing is that they try and talk to you. I know I’ve come to the church before, and see parents and such, and they ignore I am there. But despite everything, I am encouraged by their eagerness to meet everyone. The church is quite small, so mostly everyone knows everyone else. So of course as a new-comer, you stand out.

I was thinking to myself on my way home, that man I am going to get fat fast. This week, since Monday, I gave eaten out 8 times including today. That is a lot of money and fat. I need to start working out. But I am going to take that poll off today, and I don’t think I’m going to join yet. It is still expensive, and the hours are not great. Plus I’d like to stabilize my life for the time being first before I commit.

Oh, another funny thing today. I set my alarm for 7:10 AM this morning, so I’d miss about 10 mins of the game, which I didn’t think anything would happen. I wake up hearing my sister yell to my dad, the score is 1-1 already. By the time I washed my face, and went downstairs to watch, it’s already 2-1. So at halftime, I decided, this was before 8AM, that I’d go to an Italian bakery and buy some bread. I got there are 7:53 and I tried the door, it seemed locked. I went back to car to check time, 7:55, I went back to wait outside, and I see this man waiting there too. I was like, I got here first, before you, I just went to car to check time. So we stayed outside, talking about the weather, what he was doing (he was going up with 15 people to Lake Bass, so he needed bread), I told him about the soccer game. Then the girl inside, who should of seen us outside a long time ago, opens the door, telling us it’s been open for a while now. We felt stupid, but I saw her at the window countless times, she should of told us. But anyways, that was dumb.

Current Events today:

- Turkey beats Korea 3-2 for third place at World Cup
- President Bush having surgery, a colonscopy.
- Toronto stinks, it’s garbage still not being collected.
