So today's blog is about current events.
SARS - I cannot believe there are other probable cases that have spurred up again. Four new people have come up with symptoms of SARS. this is crazy, because Torontonians and the world is probably just beginning to loosen up about this SARS thing, and now all of a sudden it's not gone. I guess the good thing is that it's not thought to of spread through community contact, and it's probable that somewhat brought it into the country. However, even though that's better, I have to have this false sense of security. I mean even thuogh customs cannot stop everyone and be sure people who come into the country are sars-free, I think it's the responsibility of each individual to face the facts. Of course there are cases you just don't know, which I guess is likely to happen, but I think when the chances are greater than you have a chance of exposure, you should be more caerful, rather than spread it to others, like the case here.
Mad Cow - This is even bigger than sars I think. I think the ramifications are greater and harder to contain than sars, which makes more more scared about this. I can rememeber little about the time we last had mad cow, although I remember it, I don't remember the details and results. But after listening to some of what happened last time, especially in England, it disturbs me. I think this thing has affected me more, I am weary of eating beef now actually, cause I've heard the affects, and they sound kind of scary. Even last night eating beef, I was weary of eating it. kinda dumb I think, but I don't think we should be unprepared.
WNV - This is actually pretty scary too. I have always been prone to mosquitoe bites, and it scares me to think I can come down with this. Also, I do live in Mississauga, which was a high area for WNV, and I am very close to Oakville, city with most cases of WNV. I must say I put on more insect repellant last year than usual, and I will probably do so this year as well. I hate using it, but when will this thing ever go away? I was not too scared last year about this, I kind of just went on with life. But I think I have to come to a reality that this is serious, and should not be taken lightly. If only we can exterminate the whole mosquitoe habitat, and eliminate every last one. A total annihilation. I don't think they are a vital part of the food chain.
From the radio - Interesing theory I heard on 680 News yesterday. So someone was reflecting on the state of Toronto/Canada recently, and what was proposed was how ironic it is that all these big news issues is occuring after Canada declares that they will not contribute to the war effort in Iraq. Think about it: Sars, WNV, Mad Cow, Holly Jones. The list goes on, but none are as substantial as these four. Sure things happen all the time, but not even close to this degree. I find this theory rather ironic because how odd it is that all this is happening at once. Is this some sign? Maybe some bad omen? what would of happened if Canada joined the war effort, still would of happened? No ones knows, but it's just interesting to reflect on such things. I have said in a previous blog how I have a theory of how the SARS thing, which kind of came up right in the middle of the Iraq War was started and planted by Saddam. Basically what my theory is that saddam is behind the SARS, because it's all biological, and this is what this war has been about, biological and nuclear. So who knows, maybe there is some truth to my theory?
This weekend is Ken's wedding. You know what that means, he's the first, and everyone else will follow suit soon. It's kinda of scary, I mean I think Ken is only like what, 3 years older than me. Man, I'm falling behind! I'm wasting time! But Congratulations to Ken. I wish Ann and you the best in the future. And jjust like after Nolan's wedding, I'm gonna feel sorry for the person speaking, which I think this week will be Nolan. Why? Becuase EVERYONE will be tired after Ken's wedding, and there is gonna be tons falling asleep during the sermon I think. Looks like the balcony many be filled this Sunday.
