Right Now
I am writing this sitting in my car in a plaza in Markham. Why am I doing this, because I have to wait for my mom. Nevertheless if gave me an oportunity to plan out my trip this summer. That's right, I am planning to backpack Europe this summer.
One thing I realized as I am planning this event is that there are not enough days in 5 weeks. I can't even add one city to my itinerary unfortunately, so I gotta figure something out. If anybody has any suggestions on what cities and places I should go to, or what cities and places I should not bother with, it would be great to hear about.
Right now I am only hitting about 5 countries, I wanted to go to more, and with 35 days you'd think one would have plenty of time, but no. The ones I am currently planning to hit are UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Yes, most of the major countries, nothing exotic, just plain and simple, want to see the good stuff hopefully. So make some suggestions.
I think one of the things taking time is the bus travel. Everytime i get onto the bus it's like one whole day, and this takes days out of the trip. The more trips I make, the more time I spend on the bus I guess. Oh well, it's much cheaper than the train. Another problem is the bus travels during the day, so that means I get to the cities in the evening, and I can't really go to anything at night (i.e. museums, anything that requires admission). So then I gotta spend the night and wait. That is okay, I can try to make the most of it.
CCF Chairperson Role
I don't know why this was on my mind last night, but actually I;ve thought about it previously as well. But what has been on my mind is (not running for chair as the sub-heading my make you imply) that I think this role should be a 2-year position for maximum 3rd year students. This means that no one above fourth year may run unless they are planning to do graduate school within the same University. But I think the kicker is that I think it might be more beneficial to havee the role be a two-year term. Why do I say this? Well think about one fact, the President of US, the PM of Canada, they each get four years, not like they are only given one year in the office. This is because one year is not enough to fully implement something. I think with two years, the individual will be given enough time to carry outt their vision and then see the fruits of it in the following year. Meanwhile giving them more to to carry it out, fix aspects of it, and really go through it.
With only one year, if they even get a chance to fulfill their vision, then they won't be around next year to see it (in most cases) and also a lot of times any long term goals will not be fulfilled. And then the next year roles around, a new chair, a new committee, and then it's a repeated cycle again, doing it all over again. How often are things carried over. Some ideas and stuff, but it's a totally new chair and committee and then they could have different goals and stuff.
The downfall is not as many people would run for it because it's a two-year committment. But this position is not food, you do not go into it to "try" it. One should expect to devote their time to God when they do this. And it's not like they would not know going into elections that it will be a two-year term. And also, this should be taken serious, so only serious applicants should be nominated and run. So those who run you know are "for real" committed to the fellowship.
Then maybe we can have an impeachment! *j/k*. Wouldn't that be the talk of the town, CCF chair impeached from chairperson role! hahaha. Anyways.
